Taking Control

From the intriguing words of Jodi Picoult, “when you're different, sometimes you don't see the millions of people who accept you for what you are. All you notice is the person who doesn't.” Confidence and self-acceptance is something everyone in modern day society struggles with. From our outward appearances to our deep, inner thoughts about our personalities, we all constantly struggle with feeling like we’re not enough at times. There are enormous expectations nowadays set on how we should all look, act, feel and even live. But I’m here to tell you that none of that matters! One of the most important lessons I’ve learned over this past year was to accept myself and my circumstances for what they are and to make the best out of them. You were made completely and utterly perfect from your head to your toes and everything in between! Self-confidence and acceptance of self takes a lot of hard-work and constant awareness of your feelings and emotions. Loving yourself for who you are all starts with a healthy mind. The most famous quote from Plato states, “reality is created by the mind, we can change our reality by changing our minds.” Now, you can look at this from the surface level or you can dig even deeper. Our consciousness is what creates our perceptions of reality. Our experiences, morals and knowledge is what composes our perceptions of reality. So changing up our daily routines, learning something new or even letting go of something we’ve let bother us for so long, has the power to change our realities completely. The problem is we keep repeating the same thoughts, beliefs and actions and wonder why nothing ever changes! Once we make these huge changes in our minds, we will have the ability to see the world differently. When you start becoming fully aware of every aspect in your daily life is when you are able to take complete control of your life and its direction for good. One thing that most humans say when describing their lives is that they feel as if they have no control over it. Everyone thinks this is just the way life is due to chaotic schedules and spontaneous daily challenges, but that’s not true! You should be to a point where you’re so conscious and aware of your state of mind that nothing can disturb your inner peace. When faced with struggles you should be able to identify the issue, understand what emotion you’re feeling and create an action plan to follow in order to take control of the situation. You will find a way to conquer your inner mind and demons to take total control!
