New Year, New Me!

New year, new me, right? After a busy holiday season and a crazy life changing year, it’s time to reconnect with yourself. January is the perfect time to reconstitute our busy lives and recharge so that we may feel refreshed. This is the time that we disconnect with ourselves so that we may reconnect again. Sounds counteractive right? Disconnecting with ourselves gives us a chance to make time and create a space to be with ourselves. Today, we are so bombarded with technology and social media that it may seem impossible to disconnect from it all, but the benefits far outweigh that couple days of social media deprivation. Listed below are a couple tips to help you guys conquer this year!

Schedule #isolation. Alone time has to be one of the most important roles in reconnecting with your inner self. Use this time to reflect on your intentions for this year. Arrange some time spent in your own company a couple times a week. Even if it’s as simple as taking a bubble bath, going to the local bookstore, getting a coffee from the cafe or taking a stroll in the park, it’s crucial to get this time in for yourself.

Tip: Schedule the same day and time each week to go do one activity on your own.

Take a break from #technology. Technology has become a huge part of our daily lives, we use it for

everything. Technology itself is not a bad thing, the way it is abused is bad for our health. We are

constantly scrolling through unnecessary apps for hours on end, comparing ourselves and our lives to the people on Instagram. It is vital that we take a couple days out of the week to unplug and refocus on ourselves and our surroundings. As many days as you can manage, put down your phone.

Tip: Start by waking up in the morning and not grabbing your phone first thing. Instead, get up and go do some self-discovering. Your phone will still be there when you come back to it.

#Meditate. Mediating provides a time to restore the senses and recharges the mind and body. Setting yourself apart from the distractions of life every now and again can do us the world of good. A quiet mindfulness retreat can offer shelter and space to turn inwards. We may also find it restores the relationship we have with ourselves. Tip: Schedule the same time every couple days to meditate for 10 minutes. #Reconnect with your inner self and rediscover what’s important to you.

#Relax and #release. Take time everyday to just slow down, relax and breathe. Permit yourself to be idle, and to experience times of openness that you aren’t trying to fill with thoughts or actions. Relaxation refreshes and renews the brain chemistry because it slows down brain waves. Take time everyday to refresh and renew your mind!

Tip: Take 5-10 minutes out of your day to get into a comfortable setting and relax. Take very deep breaths and caste away any expectations or thoughts. Just be present.

Establish a daily #practice. Establishing a daily practice is vital to enhance the prosperity of a new year reset. By setting aside time for a mindfulness practice will not only help us connect with ourselves but aid us in establishing our intentions, which guide the direction of our lives. Tip: The easiest mindful practice you can establish in your life is to #journal. Grab a notebook every morning and write how you’re feeling and your intention for not only the day, but your direction in life.
